Consultation on the Private Fostering (Disqualification) (Wales) Regulations 2010, 17/08/10 [W]
Consultation on the Private Fostering (Disqualification) (Wales) Regulations 2010, 17/08/10 [W]

Consultation ends: 17/09/10

The Welsh Assembly Government is consulting on the proposed Private Fostering (Disqualification) (Wales) Regulations 2010 that will come into force on 1st December and will revoke the Disqualification from Caring for Children (Wales) Regulations 2004.

The 2010 regulations introduce extra categories to be considered in disqualifying an individual from privately fostering a child under the Children Act 1989;-

  • the addition of overseas offences
  • the inclusion of repealed statutory offences

The additional categories leading to disqualification will ensure children and young people are protected when equivalent offences are committed overseas and equivalent offences under statutes have been repealed.
