Children are Unbeatable (logo)3Parenting is easiest when it is based on good communications.  Children have the right to express themselves, learn and develop.  But parents also have the right to set limits about which behaviours are acceptable and which are not.  Positive parenting encourages children and young people to understand how and why they should behave well, to develop skills of negotiation and compromise, and it fosters good family relationships.

Positive parenting is:

  • showing appreciation and attention as ways of increasing positive behaviours
  • recognising children's developmental abilities
  • balancing power between parents and children
  • acknowledging children's rights as laid out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
